{"id":1726,"date":"2017-12-15T17:17:58","date_gmt":"2017-12-15T22:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/managementandthearts.com\/5e\/?p=1726"},"modified":"2017-12-15T17:29:15","modified_gmt":"2017-12-15T22:29:15","slug":"reminder-of-chapter-9-and-10-errors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/managementandthearts.com\/5e\/blog\/reminder-of-chapter-9-and-10-errors\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder of Chapter 9 and 10 Errors"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>If you are new to <em>Management and the Arts,<\/em> or if you are planning to use the book in a course you are teaching next semester, I thought it might be helpful to alert you to the information below regarding errors in chapters 9 and 10.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Chapter 9 Erratum<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Figure 9.9<\/strong>, page 358 in the 5th edition and page 295 in the 4th edition, has a formula error in the total column. The total for the line named \u201cVariance\u201d is $40,470. The \u201cReserves\u201d line directly below is $40,470. There was an error in the original spreadsheet used to create Fig. 9.9. There should be\u00a0NO number in the \u201cBalance\u201d cell on the bottom right of the Cash Flow Projections. The formula error added the variance and reserves, which created an incorrect \u201cBalance\u201d of $80,940.<\/p>\n<h5>The text on page 359 in the 5th edition and page 294 in the 4th edition should read:<\/h5>\n<p>\u201cEven though the company is projecting ending the season with a $40,470 reserve (see Reserves row in Fig. 9.9)<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0there will be 4 months of the season where there is a negative cash flow.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Chapter 10 Erratum<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>There is a typo on page 393 in the 5th edition and on page\u00a0319 in the 4th edition in the Sidebar \u201cElasticity Change Formula.\u201d In the last line, the formula should read:<\/p>\n<p>% Change\u00a0 = P1 \u2013 Po\/(P1 + Po)\/2.
